MERRY CHRISTMAS!

2nd Bachillerato and 4th E.S.O.

Christmas is a wordlwide celebrated Christian festival. And when December reaches its climax, Christian communities around the world celebrate Christmas in different ways ( very different sometimes ). In this exercise you will find out lots of different aspects about Christmas in many countries around the world which share the same language, English, and yet are separated by thousands of miles and sometimes unique traditions . This makes them different, but at the same time they share a common core of celebrations. Both differences and similarities are worth being discovered. Herminio J. García-Riaño Fernández ( Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Langreo - Spain )
1. Choose an English-speaking country. Look for information on how they celebrate Christmas, and write a short paragraph on them (including festivities, traditions, typical food, presents, etc.) comparing them to those in Spain.

I.T.E.W. Göteborg 2008

Photographs (up/left to bottom):
1. Göteborg is an old and beautiful city on the west southern coast of Sweden. The weather was not very good, but there were people everywhere; walking under the rain, getting on and off the trams and the buses or just riding their bicycles.
2. Another view of the old part of the city, with the Town Hall on the right.
3. Göteborg's port, next to the New Opera House. That old sailing ship has been turned now into an expensive hotel and restaurant.
4. The tiny island of Marstrand, an hour drive north from Göteborg. We visited there and old castle, and had dinner in a "viking way".
5. That is Ebba Petterssons Privatskola, the school we went to visit in Göteborg.
